Kim Hopson

Kim Hopson’s work explores the intersections of disability, motherhood, and identity through performance, mixed media, installation, and video. As a limb-different artist, Hopson draws on her lived experience to challenge ableist narratives and expand the visibility of disabled bodies in contemporary art. Humor, vulnerability, and storytelling play central roles in her practice, creating entry points for dialogue across diverse audiences.

Her recent projects focus on the politics of care and labor, drawing from personal experience while engaging broader collective narratives. She often combines textile and domestic materials with performative actions to examine the tension between private spaces and public expectations. These works blur the boundaries of the personal and political, inviting viewers to reflect on how bodies are framed, judged, and supported.

Hopson's practice is inherently experimental, adapting across mediums to find the best form for each idea. Whether through intimate object-based works or immersive performances, she seeks to create spaces that are both accessible and disruptive, spaces where empathy and critique can coexist.
